What are some good and quick recipes for dinner that are not expensive?

I am on a tight budget right now and it is just me and my fiance, but I need some ideas for dinner that are cheap but good. Please give me some ideas and recipes. We like all the normal things, like chicken, beef, pork, etc.

Please don't give me ideas like spaghetti or hamburgers- i know how to cook that. I am talking about something good for a tight budget and alittle new.

What are some good and quick recipes for dinner that are not expensive?
We are on a tight budget also...

I make a family pasta recipe about once a week.... no meat though

1 box Radiatore noodles (or similar) I use walmart brand

2 cans diced tomatos

2 cans tomato sauce

Garlic salt

Pepper

Cheddar or Colby Jack Cheese

Stick of butter

Boil the whole box of Radiatore (walmart brand) noodles until soft

Rrinse good with cold water

Pour into a 13x9 glass pan

Add all 4 cans tomatos (no draining)

Add salt and pepper to your liking

Mix it all together

Melt the stick of butter in a bowl in the microwave

Pour over mixture (do not stir)

Bake at 375 for about 45 mins

Slice the cheese and cover the top of the pasta

Continue baking until cheese is melted

This makes great leftovers too!

Other things we make as alternative to spagetti and hamburgers is..

Tortillini

Raviolies

Enchiladas (very easy)

Pigs in a blanket with mac and cheese

Best ever potatoe soup (I have the recipe for that too)

BBQ chicken and mashed potatoes

Cabobs (pork tenderloin, peppers, mushrooms, pineapple marinated in whatever you like)What are some good and quick recipes for dinner that are not expensive?
Purchase an abundance of ground beef. Then, purchase Manwich sloppy joe sauce, a box or two of hamburger helper, and a taco kit. With the ground beef and those additions, you can make sloppy joe's on monday, hamburger helper of your choice on tuesday, and tacos on wednesday! Another thing I do with ground beef that is totally affordable is, I purchase a box of elbow macaroni, boil them, and drain. Meanwhile, I cook the ground beef till browned. When both the elbows and the beef are done, I put them together in a large mixing bowl. I add a can of whole-kernel corn, drained and a jar of Hunt's Beef Gravy (heated) then mix well. As a finishing touch, I sprinkle sharp cheddar cheese over top. It's delicious and quick and inexpensive.. Hunt's Beef Gravy Jar cost only a dollar here and you can buy generic elbow macaroni box for about 89 cents, maybe even less.

Other things that are good to have when you're on a budget is potatoes and rice. Rice usually doubles in size when it cooks so it can seem everlasting and potatoes are good because you can do baked, roasted, make your own fries, or make mashed potatoes.. amongst other things like potato salad.
I give the same answer to every dinner recipe so you've probably saw it before.. but Chicken tetrazzini is not only easy but it's cheap AND yummy!

DIRECTIONS

1. Put cooked spaghetti into 9x13-inch baking dish. Place chicken on top of spaghetti.

2. In medium saucepan heat together soup, water, butter, and bouillon. Bring to a boil and then pour over the pasta and chicken. Put shredded cheese (to taste) on top and press down a bit.

3. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 25 minutes.

You could also do any chicken alfredo. It's easy and cheap. Plus it's good! Uhm.. you could also try your own home made pizzas. If you don't wanna make the dough they have already made pan things with dough on it and all you gotta do is buy the toppings. If you get the off brand instead of the kraft brand or any of the higher brands then it'll only be 2.35. If you get an xl you can do half of it as a savory pizza and the other as sweet.
Something quick and easy that my mom used to make for me when I was growing up was to take a box of macaroni and cheese and cook the noodles until done, then add the cheese (leaving out the butter and milk) and add a can of condensed cream of mushroom soup. Mix that all together and add a splash or two of milk to make it thinner, just until it's nice and creamy instead of so thick. It's a versatile dish, so adding stuff to it would only make it better, like maybe some cut up chicken or ham, or more mushrooms.
tator tot casserole is the best

preheat oven to 400

take about 1 lb.- 2.5 lbs of ground beef and cook it until it is done...while cooking add some salt pepper and a little bit of garlic salt

my husband has been going online and looking for new recipes. He has bought supper for 2 adults and 2 kids for around $88.00 per week. He stays away from boxed- prepackaged food. One night we had roasted veggie sandwiches. One night we had a chicken sate pasta dish that was very good.
Here are some of my favorites.

Dijon Chicken with Pasta

6 chicken breast halves

3/4 cup butter softened

Combine butter and next 3 ingredients, mixing well. Place 1 1/2 T butter mixture under skin of each piece of chicken; reserve remaining mixture. Place chicken, skin side up, in a lightly greased 13 by 9 inch pan. Bake at 350 for one hour.

You cannot get much cheaper (because it makes several meals) than a roasted chicken. Change up the flavor by rubbing with your favorite spices that you never have occassion to use. Roast in the oven.

One roasted chicken can provide 3 meals for the week (plus a sandwhich or two for lunch) for 2 people. The first night have roasted chicken with roasted veggies (simply drizzle roughly cut root veggies like potatoes, onions, carrots, etc. with olive oil, a little herb like rosemary, sea salt and roast while chicken is cooking). The second night pull the chicken off the bone and add to either a creamy pasta dish or make it ';BBQ'; style with sauce over baked potatoes. The 3rd meal you can make a layered one-pan casserole (recipe below).

Easy Cheesy Mexican Chicken

1 1/2 C instant rice

1 can corn niblets, drained

1 small can chili con queso

1 t each garlic salt, onion powder, cumin, black pepper, oregano

1 C shredded chicken

1/4 C red salsa

scallions (optional)

1 C hot (microwaved) chicken stock

Layer rice on bottom of dish. Top evenly with corn and then chicken. Mix spices with cheese sauce and drizzle on top dish. Sprinkle with salsa and scallions. Drizzle with chicken stock. Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 minutes or until rice is done.

You can do a similar dish with leftover ground beef. Serve with tortilla chips. Absolutely yummy.
