What are some quick recipes for a college student?

I live by myself and am sick of frozen meals, and other cliche college meals.

Thanks!

I searched online for recipes but they seemed a bit advanced or kind of kooky (red pepper sandwich?)What are some quick recipes for a college student?
first of all buy a crockpot and it will save your life during college!!! i work 5hrs every night and have a good home cooked meal waiting for me at home every night!! ITS AMAZING!!!

i always just throw in a chicken breast..slice up some onion..pour in a garlic/onion medley some salt...some black pepper... 1/2 cup rice and 1cup water and cook on high for 4hrs and voila!! food!! lol

or i'll throw in a pot roast (i usually cut it to how much i want and freeze the rest for later) pour BBQ sauce on and cook on high for 4hrs then when i get home turn it off and make some quick green beans and voila! food!!

other than crockpot stuff...

on the skillet i'll throw on some oil and on medium cook chicken...i cut up the chiken into little pieces(bitesize) cook those ...put a lil salt while their cookin and a lil soy sauce... and some pineapple slices with it...and a tiny pinch of ginger...

then i cook minute rice... then voila! you have chicken and rice!!! (you can replace the soy sauce with terryake sauce if youd like too!)

another is sausage pepporonie pasta!!! its amazing!! cook up pasta and sauce as usual.... and buy some tomato dried sausage and cut up into little slices and cook on skillet with some olive oil and pinch of garlic salt...then jus throw on the pepporonis til warm and voila!! and u can throw some texas garlic toast in the oven! or just toast and butter and add garlic to regular bread!!

( i also just like pasta and bread!...bertolli has the BEST marinera with burgendy wine sauce!!! my fav by far!!)

another one i LOVE is go to the grocery store and get some fajita meat..(cant think of the name of it but my fav is the one in the PURPLE bag!! it comes in like 3-5lb bags but i love that cuz i jus cut what i want and freeze the rest til later) newho...i make 1cup rice 2cups water add one chicken boullion cube and one tomatoe boullion cube and add salt and little garlic powder...then cook the fajita meat on just like a suace pan or w/e on the stove!!!

another...easy and simple....get a potatoe and slice it up into little bite size pieces... throw on a flat skillet or w/e on the stove and put some olive oil in then throw in the potatoes and dash garlic salt black pepper...cook'em til done...then throw on some green beans...and in the green beans throw in bacon bits and cook those up...and once done mix the green beans and potatoes!! or if u dont like that you can eat them seperate and add some cheese to the potatoe! (so its like a baked potatoe cut up but you cut the cooking time of a bake potatoe!!!)

and i always throw sides with w/e i cook...either green beans, those little baked potatoe peices you can cook on stove as well...rice, corn on the cob, or fruit! usually i do fruit for dessert!

MMMMMMMMMMM another one my favorites is steak!! it sounds harder than it is!! well i buy those little filet mignons sold in the meat section...theyre like the size of my palm or my hand...and i jus throw it on the stove on a flat skillet or w/e... and just cook it through..jus keep cutting into it to check how its cooked! and along with it is my fav! corn on the cob!! fill up a pot halfway ab with water and then put in about half cup or more of MILK!!! mmm!!! makes the corn niiiice and sweet!! anyways throw corn in there for about 15min with a lid on!!(jus make sure it doesnt foam/boil over or w/e! the color will change when its done!! and ofcourse i cook with some great grean beans with bacon bits in it!!

OH...and with cooking chicken on the stove its so easy to make a lot diff recipes... like i mentioned you can add soy sauce, teryake, any cheap white wine, italian dressing,....the list goes on and on...

oh and ofcourse theres always scrambled eggs bacon and hash browns....

heat on medium or so and place few bacon strips in(it'll make its own grease so no need for nonstick stuff) after cooked pour out grease with steam hott water while the garbage disposal's on ....then spray pan with nonstick stuff and grade a potatoe and put graded peieces in pan....add dash salt..little black pepper...maybe even a dash of garlic keep flipping til cooked...then repsray with nonstick stuff... crack an egg or two in there and stir it up until alls yellow(you can always add chedder cheese salt pepper and w/e else u like)...let cook and keep flipping...once cooked break it up on a plate...voila!

i'll let you know if i can think of some more....

goodluck! What are some quick recipes for a college student?
ok this recipe was so quick i was shocked when i made it! but if you dont like broccoli rabe just substitute normal broccoil

Fresh Fettuccine with Roasted Chicken and Broccoli Rabe

1 pound broccoli rabe, trimmed, stalks cut crosswise into 3-inch pieces

1 (9-ounce) container fresh fettuccine pasta

1 (14-ounce) can reduced-sodium chicken broth

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

3 cups shredded roasted chicken (from 1 roasted chicken)

3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan

1/2 cup pine nuts, toasted

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon lemon zest

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the broccoli rabe and cook until crisp-tender, 2 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the broccoli rabe to a large bowl of ice water. Once cooled, drain broccoli rabe and set aside. Add the fettuccine to the same pot of boiling water and cook until just tender, about 2 minutes. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup of cooking liquid.

Meanwhile, bring the broth and lemon juice to a boil in a heavy large skillet over medium-high heat. Boil until the broth reduces by half, about 5 minutes. Add the chicken and simmer just until heated through, about 2 minutes. Add broccoli rabe to the chicken broth and stir to combine. Add the pasta, 1/2 cup of Parmesan, pine nuts, parsley, oil, and lemon zest. Toss to coat, adding some of the reserved cooking liquid, 1/4 cup at a time, to moisten. Season the pasta with salt and pepper, to taste. Mound the pasta into bowls and serve. Sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan and serve.
SUPER EASY Cheeseburger Soup. This has gotten me out of a tight spot untold number of times-as I usually have all 4 or 5 ingredients on hand anyway!

Tastes home made, like you've spent all day on it, but you can have it ready to eat in well under an hour! (actual prep time is like, 10 minutes!).

I'm not mentioning spices because that's personal %26amp; up to you --we think it's great with just salt %26amp; pepper! --but do a search for variations.

EASY RECIPE:

Ground beef (about a pound). Cooked.

In a large stock pot or soup pot, put:

%26gt;the cooked burger,

%26gt;1 bag of mixed frozen vegetables (corn, peas, carrots)

%26gt;1 can of diced or crushed tomatoes

%26gt;1 can of tomato sauce

%26gt;some water (to thin to your liking %26amp; to cover the macaroni you'll add in a minute)...

Bring to boil and %26gt;add the dry macaroni from a small box of macaroni %26amp; cheese (the kind with the yukky dry cheese powder).

Mix occasionally so it doesn't stick to the bottom of pot %26amp; when the macaroni starts to soften, turn the heat off %26amp; %26gt;mix in the cheese powder.

That's IT!

**************************************鈥?br>

Now, cover cover the pot, go do something for about 10-20 minutes. That's the beauty of this soup--no time limit for every step, just kinda do the next step when you remember to! Also, the macaroni gets Larger %26amp; SOFTER after storing the soup overnight.--some like it some don't , but expect it.

Serve with a garnish of shredded cheese to make it pretty!

It's hot, hearty, filling %26amp; KIDS from 8 to 84 LOVE IT! (my 84-yr-old neighbor is a HUGE fan of it!)!

I do think the idea about the crock pot is fabulous too--can't live w/out it %26amp; you talk about homemade--THAT's the way to go! Easy %26amp; once you get it going, it's like taking candy from a baby!

Have fun!!
I swear by the Kraft Foods website. They have so many quick and easy recipes. www.kraftfoods.com. Definitely try the bruschetta and cheese stuffed chicken breasts! They are so easy and sooooo good. :)
I like the website, www.allrecipes.com. In the advanced search you can enter ingredients you have on hand and it will give you recipes you can make using them. It is very user friendly and most of the recipes are very easy to make.
in college make meals that are half frozen food and half fresh, it will say time and money(in some cases)
Frito or Dorito Taco Salad

1# ground beef

Taco Seasoning

Shredded Lettuce (pre-shredded)

Cheddar Cheese (shredded)

Tomatoes (opt)

Onions (opt)

Black Olives (opt)

Catalina Salad Dressing

Sour Cream (opt)

Fritos or Doritos

Brown hamburger and add taco seasoning according to package. Set aside to cool. In a bowl (tupperware works well...has lid) place lettuce, tomatoes, etc. Throw in the now cooled taco hamburger. Add in catalina dressing and either crushed up Fritos or Doritos...stir and chill. You can top it with the sour cream and/or olives (if you like them)...or anything else that you would put on a taco. It is good for about a week in the fridge and gets better each day! Feel free to experiment with adding other things that you like. As long as you have the chips, meat and catalina you are good to go. You will probably find others that like it as well and they will ask you to make it all the time!
